In an effort to evaluate the outcomes of its activities over the last 5 years, the CHART Regional Coordinating Unit conducted 3 evaluation studies September – December 2009 with funding from the Global Fund.  These were: 1) a study among physicians who have participated in CHART trainings; 2) a study among a mixed group of health care providers to assess the use of the knowledge and skills gained through training; and 3) a qualitative study of PLHIVs and their perceptions of quality of care.

The International AIDS Conference is the premier gathering for those working in the field of HIV, as well as policy makers, persons living with HIV and other individuals committed to ending the pandemic. It is a chance to assess where we are, evaluate recent scientific developments and lessons learnt, and collectively chart a course forward. This year’s conference will be held July 18-23, 2010 in Vienna, Austria.

Abstract submissions were made by the RCU on behalf of the CHART Network and three of these were accepted.

• Perceptions of the Quality of Care: A Study among Caribbean Persons Living with HIV in Barbados, Jamaica and Haiti
